Guidelines for submission
- Deadline for Abstract submission is July 31st 2008.
- All submissions must be in English only.
- All submissions must be online.
- Abstracts submissions submitted as hard copies or via e-mail will not be processed.
- Indicate what type of abstract you are submitting (category of the abstract).
- Indicate the topic (theme of the abstract).
- The Committee reserves the right to determine whether a free paper submission is accepted as an oral presentation or a poster. The decision of the Committee is final.
- Follow all the instructions on the abstract submission form. Failure to complete all the required fields will result in the abstract not being successfully submitted.
- Submission of an abstract includes a commitment by the author to present at the EOC.
- All presenters are required to register for the EOC and pay all applicable fees.
- The EOC does not pay honoraria or travel/housing expenses for any presenters.
- Once an abstract is submitted, it is not possible to add any changes to it, the submission is final once completed.
- The scientific committee holds the right to accept or reject any submission.
- The presenter (1st author) will be contacted by the scientific committee regarding the acceptance of the abstract, after the 31st of July 2008.
- Each presenter is allowed to submit a maximum of 2 free papers, 2 posters, 2 courses.
- All abstracts accepted will be published in the Book of Abstracts (conference book). The abstract will appear exactly as submitted.
- EOC recuires permission to record the presentation and/or to reproduce the presentation material; this will include providing the presentation to interested delegates.
- EOC requires permission to sell recorded presentations to delegates
- Title: Please use title case when entering your title (without author)
- Body: The body may not exceed 300 words. It must have a structured layout which includes:
- - Objective/Purpose (use correct headings and avoid abbreviation used for the first time)
- - Methods (try to avoid formulas and avoid typographic errors)
- - Results and Conclusion
- Do not use abbreviations or acronyms for the first time; you should spell them out in full with the abbreviation in parentheses after the full word(s) the first time they appear in the text. The abbreviations should be used alone thereafter in your text.
- Permission to record must be given at the time of submission.
- Financial disclosure of the author must be declared at the time of abstract submission and presentation.
Course / Workshop submission
- Synopsis: specify the material of the course
- Objective: specify the measurable outcome expected for the attendee
- Short course outline: specify the outline of the course in details; do not include authors or duration of presentation. Do not exceed 500 words.
- Specify the targeted audience:
- - Opthalmologists
- - Optometrists
- - Ophthalmic nurses
- Specify category:
- - Medical
- - Skill transfer (if special material is to be provide eg. screens, instruments, equipment etc.
- Specify the duration needed, if the duration exceeds 2 hours, EOC requires providing coffee break for attendees.
- Specify any sponsoring body if present.
